Mummy of Lagos, Bobrisky jailed 6-months for Naira mutilation

Idris Olarewaju Okuneye, self-styled ‘mummy of Lagos’ and also known as Bobrisky has been sentenced to six months in jail with no option of a fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The judgement was handed down on Friday, April 12.

The controversial cross-dresser pleaded guilty to the charge of naira abuse.

Justice Awogboro, in her sentence, said the judgment will serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of abusing and mutilating the naira.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, April 4, filed six counts of money laundering and abuse of naira against him.

On Friday, April 5, EFCC arraigned Bobrisky in court on a six-count charge ranging from Abuse of the Naira and Money laundering.

The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him for Naira abuse after he confessed to the crime.
