Interior Minister, Abba Moro, Lobbies Journalists

On the back of the death of scores of people during the recruitment test organised at the weekend by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Minister of Interior, Abba Moro is currently trying to bribe a clique of journalists with N500,000 in return for a positive media image.

A minimum of 23 people died during stampedes at test venues across the country, as 520,000 applicants turned up for aptitude tests for just 4,556 vacant positions.

But Moro then incurred public wrath when he blamed the impatience of the applicants for the deaths.

“The applicants lost their lives due to impatience; they did not follow the laid-down procedures spelt out to them before the exercise”, he had said.

“Many of them jumped through the fences of affected centres and did not conduct themselves in an orderly manner to make the exercise a smooth one. This caused stampede and made the environment unsecured”.abba-moro

The utterance triggered calls by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for his resignation or sack by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Moro, who also received a query from the president, has now moved to improve his tattered media image by bribing journalists.

“Minister of Interior, Abba Moro is at this moment meeting with select group of journalists to furnish his image with a promise of N500,000 each at Nugget Hotel, behind Chisco Transport Company, Utako. This is for your information please. I am very ashamed at the conduct of our journalists. Thanks”, a competent source told Huhuonline.com
