Audu Madaki, an assistant inspector-general of police (AIG), in charge of zone 12 police command has been reportedly shot by gunmen suspected to be terrorists.
Madaki was said to have been attacked by the assailants on Tuesday at Barde Zangidi along Kaduna-Abuja road.
Although the reports are still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, it was learnt that the AIG was on his way to Abuja from Bauchi when the suspected terrorists ambushed and attacked him.
He was said to have been shot in the leg while his orderly was killed.
Thomas Goni, the PPRO for Zone 12, Bauchi, said he is yet to receive details of the attack. “We are still waiting for the details of the incident,” he said.
“You know it did not happen within our jurisdiction here; it happened in Kaduna command so I have been on the line with Kaduna to get the details from them.
Goni however confirmed that the AIG is alive and that more information on the incidence will be made available as soon as it is received from the Kaduna command.
The AIG is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital while security has been beefed up around the Zone while armed Police personnel have been drafted to the area to comb the bush in order to fish out the terrorists.
