The friendship between the two late monarchs; Ooni Okunade Sijuwade, who passed on few days ago and the late Emir Ado Bayero of Kano, who died last year was a bond made in heaven and formalised on earth. The Emir Ado Bayero and the Ooni Sijuwade were like Siamese twins, almost inseparable. They were so close that when they ran into trouble with the government some years back, they did it together.
Their friendship was palpably solid and it extended to their Crown Princes such as Prince Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Turaki Kano and Prince Adetokunbo Sijuwade, the eldest child of the Ooni.
The pictures of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, are seen in different parts of the Ooni’s household. Their closeness transcends beyond religious barrier. The late Emir was a devout Muslim while the Ooni was a staunch Christian.
