Nigeria’s Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee has stripped a lawyer, Kunle Kalejaiye, of his rank as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The stripping is one of several disciplinary measures against Mr. Kalejaiye.
Mr. Kaleijaye was the Nigerian lawyer caught exchanging text messages with an election tribunal judge, Thomas Naron, during the election litigation between former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and the state’s current governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
Mr. Kalejaye had faced an inquiry into his unethical conduct since 2008 when a series of text messages between him and the judge were made public.
