A onetime military administrator of Lagos and Imo States and a staunch member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu has died.
The retired senior Naval officer, according to family sources, died as a result of complication arising from coronavirus disease.
The source said Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu had been on admission as a result of COVID-19 infections and died early on Wednesday.
Kanu was appointed the first military governor of Imo State, Nigeria in March 1976 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo after it was created from the old East Central State.
He was later transferred to Lagos State as military governor in 1977 and served till July 1978.
