As preparation for the 2015 general election gathers momentum, the political ambition of incumbent Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Alex Otti is tearing the fabrics of the bank as the founder and chairman of the bank, Pascal Dozie is said to be at daggers drawn with the Otti over issues bothering on dereliction occasioned by his frequent trips to his home state Abia, where he is lobbying the incumbent governor, Theodore Orji to back him for Abia State governorship or secure the Abia North Senatorial ticket.
Sources close to the bank revealed that Otti has priortised his political pursuit far above his official functions in the bank thereby leading to neglect of duty or lateness in taken serious business decisions he, normally would have attended to in good time.
The issue was said to have degenerated to a board room crisis that has polarised the directors of the bank into those in support of Pascal Dozie’s moves to force Alex Otti to step down and the other group backing Otti’s continued stay at the bank.
As it is now, Pascal Dozie was said to have positioned one of his sons who work at the bank, Uzoma, to take vital decisions and as a possible replacement for Alex Otti.
The development has allegedly led to massive capital flight from the bank for fear of safety of depositor’s money.
Efforts to reach officials of the bank’s Corporate Affairs department proved abortive but a high ranking officer of the bank however promised to forward our contacts to them to get back to us on the issue. Their response will be published as soon as we get it.
