Momas Meter Manufacturing Company has urged the Federal Government to implement policies that would enhance business opportunities for indigenous manufacturers.
The company’s Head of Human Resources, Mrs. Jumoke Aladekomo, made this appeal during a meeting with the Planning Group of the Lagos/Ogun Multi-Sector Trade Fair.
On a courtesy call, the group visited the company’s head office in Orimerunmu along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Mrs. Aladekomo highlighted that unfavourable government policies are hindering investments across various sectors of the economy. She called on the Federal Government to establish policies that prioritize local manufacturers over imports, which would help alleviate pressure on the foreign exchange market.
Momas Meter Manufacturing Company stands as the sole indigenous electricity meter manufacturer in Nigeria, with the capacity to meet the demands of both the Nigerian and West African markets. Additionally, the company is engaged in the local production of security and defence hardware.
Earlier in his presentation, Olajide Ige, the team lead of the project’s planning group, said the the fair is the first trade fair connecting Lagos and Ogun states, reputed as both industrial and commercial hubs of Nigeria.
He noted that the Lagos/Ogun Multi-Sector Int’l Trade Fair will bring together businesses in the two leading commercial states to harness opportunities and network for development and that exhibitors and participants showing interest from within Nigeria and across Africa, anticipating that the fair will enhance networking and economic growth.
According to him, “the ongoing efforts to get onboard our host states and its positive effects on the fair necessitated the shift in dates to put in place structures for a world-class event befitting the status of Lagos and Ogun States.
The postponement, according to Ige, has for instance, led to an expansion of the fair from the initial three days to four days and could have been five days but for Easter Sunday.
He also revealed that the fair has been repackaged to offer better business opportunities for sponsors, participants, prospective investors and visitors to maximise the benefits of their investments in the project.
